Breast Nurse Specialists

We are privileged to have a team of breast nurse specialists; qualified nurses who utilise their advanced nursing knowledge, evidence-based research and critical thinking to ensure our patients and their whanau receive expert level care. Breast nurse specialists work closely with all our consultants to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

The breast nurse specialists provide support and information for patients undergoing diagnostic imaging and biopsies, facilitate and organise further investigation, support patients at the time of their diagnosis and ensure that the individualised treatment plans determined by the multi-disciplinary team are implemented. The breast nurse specialist also ensures that surgery is organised efficiently and in an appropriate timeframe.

The breast nurse specialists possess enhanced communication skills, providing patient education to assist patients and their whanau in understanding treatment options, expected outcomes and ongoing care following surgery. Our breast nurse specialists also ensure patients are provided with physical and psychological support throughout their treatments. The breast nurse specialist is a pivotal point of contact for all our patients.
